Many thanks to all who volunteered for the cleanup events during GAC this year! Because of YOU, KKB and Public Works removed over 6 tons of trash and debris from the Greenbelt trail and over 1 ton from the downtown area! Also thank you to the communities and groups who organized cleanups across the city and county! Your efforts speak volumes and the city is a better place to work, live and visit because you care!

KKB and the Sullivan County Constables have joined efforts to stop motorists and their passengers from littering while on the state’s highways. The constables will now write tickets to drivers if someone is observed throwing trash from the vehicles. The cost of the ticket will be $50.

Beautification Awards

During the months of May through October, recognition is given to residential homes that present a beautiful appearance in landscaping design. Businesses and companies are presented awards for landscaping or redevelopment. Award winners are honored at the Kingsport Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting each month at City Hall. Nominations are accepted. The program is sponsored by Blue Ridge Properties, Inc.

Trash Barrel Paint-In

The Trash Barrel Paint-in is held as a pre-FunFest event that invites aspiring artists to decorate barrels in festive designs and colors to encourage FunFesters to keep the event and the city LITTER-FREE. These imaginative barrels are used at various city events. Their bright colors and designs make the barrels highly visible and remind people where to deposit their trash. Sponsored by BB&T Bank.

Trashbusters

Volunteers sign up to pick up trash at scheduled events such as FunFest, Food City Race Night, the Annual Christmas Parade, etc. Volunteers receive a Trashbusters T-shirt, free water and large white trash bags. Sponsored by Appalachian Power (AEP).
